Senior Construction Administrator

Location: Dallas, TX

HIRING A SENIOR CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATOR IN DALLAS

ACCOUNTABILITY

Perform site reviews & observation efforts on complex and/or diverse projects that require construction
experience in a given discipline or trade. Construction administrative duties on projects include but are not limited to aspects of shop drawings, site visits, and submittals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform site reviews & observation efforts on complex and/or diverse projects.
  • Construction administrative duties on projects include but are not limited to aspects of shop drawings, site visits, and submittals.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills by developing strategies to address challenges during the
    construction administration phase.
  • Facilitate and attend meetings with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure alignment and
    effective problem resolution.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of MEP system design, including applicable design codes and standards, during the construction phase.
  • Ability to address RFIs by conducting independent research and preparing them for the Engineer of Record's final review before issuance.
  • Capture and document change orders during reviews, conversations, RFIs, and meetings, ensuring accurate tracking and communication of project modifications.
  • Make informed decisions regarding project direction and problem-solving, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and life safety codes relevant to healthcare facilities, maintaining high standards for safety and regulatory adherence.
  • Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other cloud platforms as project requires for
    documentation and communication.
  • Conduct thorough research to support project needs and maintain organized documentation.
  • Ensure all project documentation is up to date and accessible.
  • Assist Director in mentoring.
  • Assist Director in implementing DBR CA standards.
  • Building Client relationships.
  • Manage RFI and Submittals process by following up with the design team to ensure RFI’s and Submittals are answered, completed and returned in a timely manner.
  • Record documentation of meetings by taking meeting notes as needed, and forwarding OAC notes to Project Managers and Practice Area Leaders before uploading notes to project folders.
  • Review O&Ms and prepare comment sheet.
  • Participate in project kick off meetings or huddles.
  • Attend onsite huddles to resolve coordination issue conflicts.
  • Attend manufacture equipment startups as needed.
  • Respond to emails and answer phone calls in a timely manner.
  • Post and remove DBR job advertise signs. (signs will need approval prior to posting)
  • Keep calendar updated with admin.
  • Always keep workload spreadsheet updated and turn in quarterly or upon request.
  • Continue learning process by attending in-house seminars and continuing education opportunities outside of office.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field with 10 years of progressive experience on healthcare facility projects or
  • Technical/Associate Degree with 12 years of experience of progressive experience on healthcare facility projects or
  • High School Diploma/GED with 15 years of experience of progressive experience on healthcare facility projects.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION

  • Valid driver license for required travel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced knowledge of system design for healthcare projects and an understanding of applicable design codes.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment, supporting team efforts and project goals.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills by developing strategies to address challenges during the
    construction administration phase.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word) or related software.
  • Proficient in using office equipment (e.g., computer, copier, etc.).
  • Excellent research and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility with workload and project schedules.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Talk/Hear: The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and team members regarding project information. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Use hands/fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Stand or Sit: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Move: The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access office machinery, project information, etc. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • See/ Visual Acuity: Must have close vision, distance vision and the ability to focus to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading at distances close to the eyes.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in a typical office environment.) The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
